The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
Psalm 10:22
People will do almost anything to get blessed.
We tell our kids, "Go to college, get a good
education and when you get out you'll get a good job".
However, some do that and are unable to find even a minimal
job when they get out.
Others start a business to get there.
And that's all fine and dandy. But nine out of ten businesses
fail in their first two years. So that's not
a sure-fire way of getting there.
Now don't get me wrong.
I highly
recommend getting a good education and starting a business.
I'm just saying that neither are sure-fire ways of obtaining
prosperity. Bill Gates (Microsoft) and Larry Ellison (Oracle),
two of the top five richest Americans are both college dropouts.
Still others will play the lottery. I mean
a lot; because that's where they think they will find
their fortune. Yet statistics show that state-sponsored
lotteries will reap a lot more from its players than the
state dishes out ... $16 billion to be exact! And you thought
winning $100 million was a lot.
Did you know, that in Colorado, the lottery
organizers spend more than $400 million dollars each year
trying to lure residents to gamble on lotteries. And in a
$25,000 study called Mindsort they analyzed the left and
right sides of the brain to understand how to manipulate
players' behavior in order to get them hooked, and once
hooked, to keep them hooked.
Did you know that there are ten times as many
lottery retailers in poor neighborhoods than in affluent
ones? The Boston Globe documented how the lottery saturates
poor Massachusetts neighborhoods. For example,
Chelsea, an economically struggling community, has one lottery
retailer for every 363 residents. By comparison, the affluent
suburb of Milton has one for every 3,657 residents. These
poor Chelsea residents, many of whom are on welfare, spend
nearly eight percent of their incomes on lottery tickets.
(That's almost a tithe. That eight percent invested in the
kingdom would have reaped them a far greater return.)
Perhaps there is a better way to get blessed.
There is.
The scripture says, "The blessing of the
Lord, it is the thing that maketh rich." The Blessing of
the Lord.
Recognize that the surest way
to discover a blessed life is through God's Blessing, not
through your own efforts apart from Him.
Continue to meditate on these devotionals daily.
In them I will share revelation, principles, and inspiration
so that you will experience God's Blessing.
Confess this today:
"Lord, I thank you for
your Blessing on my life. I yield to your control and
your management of my life. I put You first. Therefore
all these things that pertain to this life are added
unto me. In Jesus Name."
