The LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
Now the LORD God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed.
Gen 2:7,8 [NIV]
Where did God make man? In the Garden of Eden, of course. But really?
The scripture says that God made the man from the dust of the ground and placed him in the garden. So, wherever God made this man, it wasn't the garden.
But why, Pastor Jordan, do you make a big deal of this; because the garden was a beautiful place, filled with luscious trees, rivers of water, aromatic resin and glistening gold. And this was exactly what the man was not. He was made of dust.
He could till the ground and make it produce. Why? Because he was made of dirt; 'dust' to be exact.
However, the woman was completely opposite. She was fashioned not of the dirt, but of man's rib. God said He could do one better than man. So, He started with perfection and made something better … woman!
Now when the woman opened her eyes, what did she see? Luscious trees, flowing rivers, aromatic resin and glistening gold. She saw nothing but beauty. When he woke up what did he see? Dust!
That's why he can wallow in the mud and be right at home. Not her. That's why it's no problem for him to work hours in the field. Although she can do it, it's not her preference.
You see, she was made for beauty. And man was placed there to learn what beauty is. He's got to keep this woman grinning from ear to ear. His challenge is to spend the rest of his days making life beautiful for this woman.
Woman is the most unique of all God's creation. She is the most special of all His creation. Therefore, she should feel good about herself knowing that she is God's very special creation.
