The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."
Gen 2:18 [NIV]
When you get married the typical vows we exchange include the phrase, "for better or for worse." This may be popular and well-meaning, but God created marriage for better!
He said that it wasn't good for man to be alone. Throughout all of His creation He never created anything inferior. And he didn't do so here, either. He intended all along, by design for there to be an Eve. But He said, "as long as the man is alone, it is not good."
However, when God brought the woman to the man, it was all better; from which I get the statement, "Marriage is not 'for better or for worse', marriage is for better."
Since words are so important, may I encourage you to take this view of marriage? I don't care what he's doing to you, or what she's doing against you. God thought it better for you to be with him; and for you to be with her.
May I inspirit you to view your mate as God's instrument to reverse the "not good for man to be alone" and to make things better.
Say this with me right now, "Tamika (put your spouse's name here) is for my good. She (he) makes me better."
Now doesn't that give you a better view of Tamika? or DeShawn? She (he) was created specifically, by design, with forethought for your good.
Now thank God for it!
